Tiffany Inspired Opalescent Stained Glass - Johnson County Stained Glass - Kansas City

At right, the paper patterns used as templates for each piece of glass in the window are cut and laid out and glass cutting is underway. As cutting progressed, all the cut pieces were pasted on an easel to evaluate the color selection.  All of the subject matter was selectively cut to achieve desired shading and color transitions within each piece.

A Tiffany inspired piece, this work measures approximately 48" x 66".  Certain subtle effects were achieved by plating multiple layers of glass in selected areas. Mottled features around leaves, petals and grapes in the upper portion were created by plating Bullseye confetti glass on the back of the window.  Shadows seen on the vertical columns and under leaves and branches on the columns were created by plating a light gray antique glass on the back.  This piece was designed by Gary Smith.  It was cut and built in the JCSG Studio by Dan Tillman.
